With the original Sensible Soccer having sold hugely, this updated version was released some months later (and then used as the basis for the later console versions). The teams are updated, with the sides present in the 92-93 European tournaments included, and the player names updated to take transfers into account. The game was tidied up and changed in a number of areas. The most significant change is the addition of red and yellow cards for discipline (2 yellow card offenses or one ‘professional foul’ (denying your opponent a clear goal-scoring opportunity) results in that player being sent off). The goalkeepers have been improved in skill, and the 1994 World Cup Qualifying tournament was added. www.Mobygames.com

Forget your 3D graphics and accurate representations of however Beckham has his hair this week - this is the best football game in existence. The Mega-CD version looks and plays the same as the cart did, with an FMV intro and cut scenes and CD quality sound recorded at a football match instead of the static hiss of the „crowd“ from the cart. The more realistic sound is good, if sometimes inaccurate - the crowd will start chanting „One-Nil!“ when neither team has yet scored, and there is a delay between scoring and the cheer going up while the Mega-CD hunts the clip down. Team selection is limited to European Nations and clubs along with the „custom“ section featuring the Sensible XI, At The Chippy and Pizza Toppings, and team and player names are tweaked (Devid Siaman is Highbury's goalkeeper) as the game wasn't licensed by any clubs. The fully editable squads and strips make any match possible, but doing so eats big chunks of the Mega-CD's built-in memory storage. The loading times don't cripple the gameplay but, like all CD titles, if you've played the cart version it can be annoying. A demo CD was given away with issue 12 of Mega Power.
